PATERSON, NJ – Friday afternoon witnessed a devastating incident in Paterson, New Jersey, where a 4-year-old girl was found severely injured, bearing numerous stab wounds.
In response to a distress call reporting a child having been stabbed, police officers arrived at a residential property located near East 24th Street and 10th Avenue shortly after 4 p.m. The officers’ investigation ultimately led to the discovery of the injured 4-year-old girl, according to the Passaic County prosecutor’s office.
Post the police’s intervention, the child was swiftly transported to Saint Joseph’s University Medical Center, where her medical condition was stabilized.
Receiving news of the traumatic incident, Councilmember Luis Velez shared that the attack took place in the backyard of the house while the girl’s mother was inside the home with another young child.
A neighbor, recalling the terrifying incident, described the sight of the distressed mother rushing out of her house, clutching her bleeding child, and crying out for aid. Encouraging others to hope, she appreciated the quick response of the paramedics and underlined the citywide prayers for the little girl’s recovery.
