Gas station clerk killed while confronting shoplifters over a bag of stolen chips

HUMBLE, TX – A fatal shooting took place near Bush Intercontinental Airport in Humble, Texas on Friday morning. Following a disagreement over alleged shoplifting, a gas station clerk was shot dead by two suspects, according to local police.

Around 11:30 a.m. at the Eastex Freeway intersection with the 7400 block of Will Clayton Parkway, an altercation broke out inside a Sunoco gas station. Witness and surveillance footage indicated that the store clerk became involved in a conflict with two men who had allegedly stolen a bag of chips.

Following a verbal exchange at the shop, the suspects left the scene. Undeterred, the clerk decided to pursue them in his own vehicle. It was then that one of the fleeing men shot the pursuing vehicle, with the gunfire fatally wounding the clerk. Police discovered the victim, a man in his 40s, in his vehicle under the southbound freeway ramp, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

In an effort to capture the culprits, authorities have initiated a manhunt. Reports describe the suspects as Black males between the ages of 18 and 25. Both of them were sporting black hoodies and jeans.
