ST. LOUIS, MO – A joyous wedding celebration turned into a horrifying incident due to a failed armed robbery in St. Louis, Missouri this weekend. The newly wedded groom was critically injured when masked gunmen stormed into the couple’s backyard reception and shot him in the head, as the jubilant ceremony was winding down.
The horrible incident occurred during the intimate wedding ceremony of Manuel and Dulce Gonzalez. The couple, who have two kids and have been in a relationship for a decade, were celebrating their union with 50 close friends and family members in their backyard.
According to accounts by guests in attendance, around 1 a.m. Saturday, two masked men entered the yard and ordered the guests to stay still while demanding money. Without any warning, one of the intruders shot Manuel Gonzalez in the head, leaving him in a critical state of health.
The culprits managed to escape their crime scene without stealing any material items from the guests.
Manuel Gonzalez was quickly taken to the hospital where he remains in a critical condition. A GoFundMe page has been set up to assist his family during this trying time.
The family, which managed to capture the suspects on their Ring doorbell camera, are currently working with the police and community to locate the assailants. They are urging anyone in the neighborhood with information or possible footage of the culprits to come forward.
