FORT LAUDERDALE, FL – A security monitor at West Broward High School has been arrested on charges of sexually assaulting a 17-year-old in Miami. The incident, which occurred last August, came to light when the victim recently contacted authorities, leading to the arrest of the suspect, Levon Joseph, while he was at work.
According to the Miami police, Joseph, 27, is accused of taking the teenager to a condo under the pretense of assisting with photography work. Once there, the minor alleges that Joseph and another man provided him with an alcoholic beverage and coerced him into engaging in sexual acts with them. The victim also reported being inappropriately touched by both men.
The accuser told investigators that following the assault, Joseph drove him home and threatened his life if he disclosed the incident to anyone. The young man, who did not attend West Broward High School, bravely came forward last month to report the crime, prompting police to issue a warrant for Joseph’s arrest.
On Thursday, Joseph was taken into custody at the school in Pembroke Pines, where he worked as a security monitor. Authorities are utilizing this case as a cautionary tale, urging students to be vigilant about their interactions on social media and through other communication channels.
Joseph is currently being held at the Broward County Jail and is expected to face a judge this weekend. However, due to the location of the alleged crime, he will be transferred to a Miami-Dade County facility.
