High school student stabbed to death under bridge

SACRAMENTO, CA – The victim in a fatal stabbing near Tower Bridge in Sacramento has been identified as Kirill Trush, a 16-year-old sophomore at Center High School in Antelope. Multiple sources, including family, close friends, and the Yolo County Coroner, confirmed his identity.

Trush, who had been with the district since kindergarten, was tragically killed on Saturday, April 20, according to multiple staff members and students at Center High School. Jeremiah Patterson, a close friend, said of the incident, “What happened to him was a tragedy, should have never happened.”

The young student was found with multiple stab wounds under the Tower Bridge at around 5:15 p.m. Police believe a fight occurred prior to the stabbing, turning the popular tourist spot into a crime scene.

In response to the incident, Center High School sent a letter to parents, offering condolences and ensuring the availability of grief counselors. The letter emphasized the off-campus incident did not involve other students.

West Sacramento police also issued a letter, requesting anyone who might have a video of the fight or who witnessed it before its removal from Instagram to come forward.

Police remain tight-lipped about the search for the suspect and have not commented about any potential safety concerns for the Sacramento community.
