LAS VEGAS, NV – A terrifying incident on the I-15 highway left a Las Vegas woman fighting for her life after a hit-and-run crash sent her vehicle careening into a ditch. The accident occurred roughly 15 miles from Primm as Erica Bruce was returning home. Her family, devastated by the sudden tragedy, is now seeking justice.
The violent collision was captured on dash cam footage, showing the moment a driver rammed into the back of Bruce’s van, forcing it off the road. Despite her critical injuries, Bruce managed to summon enough strength to call 911. She is currently on life support at UMC Trauma, with doctors uncertain about her chances of recovery.
Bruce’s mother, Verna Scott, and her daughter, Gianna Samuel, have been keeping vigil at her hospital bedside. “We are holding onto hope,” Scott shared, her voice a mix of determination and despair. “We’re praying for a miracle.”
The family has filed a report with the California Highway Patrol, who are investigating the incident. A crucial piece of evidence left behind is the imprint of the suspect’s license plate on Bruce’s company van, which she had driven for the bus charter company where she has worked for three decades.
“She was a pillar of strength,” Samuel recalled, her eyes brimming with tears. “Mom worked tirelessly, always ensuring we never went without. For her to face this now, it’s heart-wrenching.”
Bruce had recently expressed a desire to retire, tired from years of driving. Her family is now urging the driver responsible for the crash to come forward. “If you’re out there, please do the right thing,” pleaded Samuel. “My mother doesn’t deserve this.”
The California Highway Patrol has identified a person of interest and is actively pursuing leads in the case. Meanwhile, Bruce’s family remains united in their quest for answers and justice.
