Israeli cybersecurity official arrested in child sex sting operation

LAS VEGAS, NV – An Israeli government official facing serious charges is expected to appear in a Henderson court via Zoom on Wednesday. The official, who has not set foot in the U.S. since posting bail, returned to Israel the day after his arrest. The circumstances of his case have sparked significant interest and raised questions about the judicial process.

The individual in question, Tom Alexandraich, allegedly attempted to meet a 15-year-old girl on August 6. Instead, he was apprehended by an undercover agent. Court documents indicate Alexandraich avoided appearing before a judge, posted a $10,000 bail, and departed for Israel the following day.

Attorney Ron Zbrano expressed surprise at the low bail amount for such a serious charge, which involves attempting to lure a minor for sexual activity using a computer. The arrest report reveals Alexandraich used the alias “Adam” on dating apps and expressed embarrassment over his arrest. He also claimed to have worked for the Israeli government for 14 years and had meetings with bureau and NSA officials during his U.S. visit.

Allegations of preferential treatment have been raised. A statement from the U.S. Department of State, posted on social media, denied any involvement in the case, stating Alexandraich did not claim diplomatic immunity. The State Department emphasized that his release was decided by a state judge and dismissed claims of U.S. government intervention.

Despite the ongoing legal proceedings, Alexandraich is scheduled to participate in the court session remotely. His attorney released a statement asserting Alexandraich’s intention to defend himself vigorously in court. However, Zbrano noted the potential consequences if Alexandraich decides not to appear, such as a contempt order or an arrest warrant, though enforcing these would be complicated by his absence from the U.S.

The case continues to raise questions, particularly regarding how Alexandraich was able to leave the country without restrictions. Zbrano expressed concern that the full story might never be uncovered, leaving many aspects of the case shrouded in mystery.

As the court date approaches, all eyes will be on whether Alexandraich will indeed appear as scheduled. This case highlights the complexities of international legal matters and the challenges of ensuring justice across borders.
