Knife attack at school leaves 1 dead, 1 injured

MANASSAS, VA – A man armed with a knife fatally stabbed one person and left another critically injured at a Virginia technical school on Tuesday. The assailant who initiated the attack was then shot and killed by police on campus, according to the Prince William County Police Department.

The tragic incident took place shortly before 3 p.m. at the JATC/NECA technical school located in Manassas. Prince William County Police Chief Peter Newsham depicted the scene at the school as “horrific.”
Upon arriving at the training facility, officers engaged with a knife-wielding man near the main entrance. Multiple officers fired at the suspect, resulting in fatal injuries. Officers at the scene also recovered a knife.

Emergency responders found two male victims, who were immediately administered first aid before being transported to a nearby hospital. Sadly, one of the victims later died of his injuries. The other victim remains in critical condition.

At this time, the motivation for the deadly altercation remains unclear. A student at the training center, who identified himself as Raymond, expressed his shock and condolences for the victims during an interview with reporters.

The identities of the attacker and the victims have not yet been released. Authorities are currently continuing with their investigations.
