Las Vegas man charged with killing parents

Police say a late-night 911 call led officers to an east Las Vegas house where a man and woman were found with fatal blunt-force injuries.

LAS VEGAS, NV — A 27-year-old Las Vegas man was arrested on two counts of open murder after police found his parents fatally injured late Saturday at a home in the east valley, authorities said. Officers detained the son minutes later after he called 911 and said he had killed someone.

Police identified the suspect as Adrian Bailey, 27. Detectives said the case began with a 911 call at 11:28 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 27, that traced to a residence in the 6400 block of New Brunswick Avenue, near Washington Avenue and Sloan Lane. Responding officers found an adult man and woman with blunt-force injuries; the man died at the scene and the woman was taken to a hospital, where she died. Bailey was taken into custody a short distance away after a follow-up call, and the investigation was transferred to the department’s Homicide Section.

Officers said dispatchers traced the first call to the east valley address and a subsequent call to the area of Stewart Avenue and North Fogg Street, where patrol units encountered and detained Bailey without reported injuries. Investigators allege Bailey struck his mother and father with an unknown object before leaving the home. Detectives have not recovered or publicly identified the weapon. Police did not release the victims’ names pending coroner notification of relatives. “The preliminary evidence indicates both victims suffered blunt-force trauma,” a department spokesperson said. The exact timeline inside the home remains under review.

Authorities described the crime scene as contained to the single-family residence on New Brunswick Avenue. Officers canvassed the neighborhood overnight and into Sunday, seeking surveillance video and interviewing nearby residents who reported hearing commotion shortly before sirens. No other injuries were reported. Metro did not list previous calls for service to the address and said the motive is unknown. The coroner’s office will determine the official causes and manner of death after autopsies. Police records show Bailey was booked into the Clark County Detention Center on two open murder counts, a charge used in Nevada before prosecutors decide on specific allegations.

The deaths capped a violent weekend under review by Las Vegas Metropolitan Police, who handled several major incidents across the valley. Homicide detectives said their focus in this case includes confirming the sequence of events leading up to the 11:28 p.m. emergency call, establishing when each parent was assaulted, and identifying any prior conflicts or protective orders. Investigators are also reviewing potential digital evidence from phones and home devices and checking for recent welfare calls to the residence. Neighbors described the block as generally quiet, with routine late-night traffic along Washington Avenue.

Bailey made an initial court appearance Monday morning, where a judge transferred the case to another department for further proceedings. Prosecutors are expected to review the file this week to determine formal charges, which could include two counts of murder with a deadly weapon if a specific instrument is identified. A status hearing and potential bail discussion are expected in early January, depending on the completion of autopsy reports and additional interviews. Police said updates will follow as the investigation clarifies motive, weapon and precise timing.

By late Monday, Bailey remained jailed at the Clark County Detention Center. The Clark County coroner’s office had not publicly released the victims’ names. Detectives asked anyone with security footage from the Washington Avenue–Sloan Lane area late Saturday to contact investigators as they reconstruct the final hour before the 11:28 p.m. call.
