Liquor store employee shot to death at work

GLENWOOD, IL – An altercation at Emporium Liquors on Monday night resulted in the tragic death of a 52-year-old employee, Naveen Singh, due to gun violence.

Prompted by reports of the conflict, Glenwood police arrived at the liquor store situated at 339 E. Glenwood Lansing Road around 6:45 pm. Unfortunately, the altercation with an unidentified assailant had fatally escalated, leaving Singh shot dead.

At this time, police are yet to determine if the tragic shooting was associated with an attempted robbery at the liquor store.

Following the incident, the Glenwood police and the South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force conducted an extensive investigation. Settings of passersby were transformed into crime scenes as police scoured the strip mall’s parking lot and neighboring businesses and residences, searching for any trace of the shooter.

Law enforcement also tapped into surveillance footage from a business nearby, hoping to piece together the series of events that ensued when the shooter made his escape from the scene of the crime.

Despite the shocking violence, Glenwood police assured residents that there was no continued threat to the community. Police have yet to comment on any progress in making arrests in connection with the incident.
