Man Accused of Killing Two Girlfriends Faces Third Murder Charge

Anthony Nunnally, 21, is now accused of killing 17-year-old Travon Freeman in a September 2025 shooting on Chicago’s Southeast Side.

CHICAGO, IL — A 21-year-old man already charged with killing two young women he had dated is facing a third first-degree murder charge, this time in the fatal shooting of a 17-year-old boy near a Southeast Side park in 2025, according to Chicago police and court-related reporting.

Anthony Nunnally is accused of killing Travon Freeman on Sept. 29, 2025, near Russell Square Park in the area of South Baker Avenue and East 83rd Place. Freeman had been riding a new bicycle to school when he was shot, according to CBS News Chicago. The latest charge expands the criminal case against Nunnally, who was already being held in connection with two separate killings involving young women in 2024 and 2025.

Chicago police said Nunnally was charged with one count of first-degree murder in Freeman’s death. Police said members of the Chicago Police Department and the U.S. Marshals Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Apprehension Task Force took Nunnally into custody in connection with the case Friday. He was already incarcerated when the new charge was brought. Authorities have not publicly released a motive for Freeman’s killing in the latest reports.

Nunnally was previously charged in the deaths of Sierra Evans, 19, and Gabriella Arellano, 17. Prosecutors have said Nunnally had been dating the young women when they were killed. The cases involve separate shootings more than a year apart on Chicago’s Southeast Side. Nunnally has not been convicted in any of the three homicide cases, and the charges against him remain allegations.

Evans was found dead Sept. 28, 2024, in the 9500 block of South Avenue N after a resident called 911 about a woman who had been lying unresponsive outside for an extended period. Investigators determined she had been shot. Prosecutors later alleged that Nunnally, who had been dating Evans for several weeks, was responsible for her death. According to prosecutors’ account presented in court and reported by CWBChicago, Evans and Nunnally had been with other people at a nearby home before the shooting.

More than a year later, Arellano was found shot in an alley behind the 11000 block of South Mackinaw Avenue on Oct. 26, 2025. Prosecutors said surveillance video showed Nunnally, Arellano and another person walking in the area before the shooting. Other video allegedly captured a gunshot and showed Nunnally running from the area afterward. Investigators later used additional evidence, including a recorded jailhouse conversation, as they built their case, according to prosecutors’ account reported by CWBChicago.

Nunnally was arrested after Arellano’s killing but was initially held in a separate armed carjacking case rather than immediately being charged with her death. Prosecutors later charged him with the killings of Arellano and Evans. A judge ordered him detained in those murder cases. The latest charge means prosecutors now accuse Nunnally of three separate killings committed between September 2024 and October 2025.

Freeman’s death occurred between the two killings involving the young women. CBS News Chicago reported that Freeman was riding his bicycle to school when he was fatally shot near Russell Square Park. Chicago police said Nunnally was identified as the person responsible for the shooting, but authorities have released few details about what led investigators to him or what they believe prompted the attack.

The new charge comes roughly a year after Freeman’s death and about two months after Nunnally was charged in the killings of Evans and Arellano. Prosecutors had previously identified Nunnally as a suspect in another homicide while discussing the earlier cases, according to local reporting. The filing of the Freeman murder charge formally adds that case to the criminal allegations he faces.

Nunnally remains in custody as the three homicide cases move through the Cook County court system. Authorities have not announced a motive in Freeman’s killing or released additional details about the evidence underlying the newest charge. Nunnally is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
