BATON ROUGE, LA – A violent incident occurred on Friday afternoon in a residence in the Shenandoah neighborhood of Baton Rouge, resulting in two deaths and one person hospitalized.
Brent Deloach, 63, has been arrested in relation to the case. He now faces two counts of first-degree murder, announced the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office. Deputies report the victims of the shooting as Sidney Deloach, 84, and Christina Deloach, 30.
The shootout took place in a house in the 5200 block of Bluewater Drive, near George O’Neal Road. A resident who was inside the house when the incident happened reported the situation to emergency services.
Initial investigations suggested that Brent Deloach is suspected to have fatally shot his father, Sidney Deloach, and his daughter, Christina Deloach. He was also presumably the person who suffered gunshot injuries.
According to official statements, Brent Deloach shared the residence with his father, and Christina was reportedly a visitor on the day of the incident.
Curley Lee, a neighbor, painfully commented about the possibility of unknown family disputes causing such disastrous outcomes. He stressed that it is tough to understand what transpires within households, despite seeming blissfully normal from the outside.
Authorities initially adopted a cautious approach, securing nearby streets as if a shooter was on the loose. However, Casey Rayborn Hicks, the spokesperson for the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff, clarified that they were merely following standard procedures. They plan to move Deloach to EBR Parish Prison after his release from hospital.
