DALLAS, TX – A woman faces arson charges following a mobile home fire in Northwest Dallas that resulted in the deaths of a man and three dogs. The incident, detailed in an arrest warrant affidavit, unfolded on Lombardy Lane where Dallas Fire-Rescue responded early Saturday morning.
Four mobile homes and four vehicles suffered damage due to the blaze. The suspect, identified as Mirsa Lopez, had a personal connection to one of the homeowners and allegedly ignited the fire after being denied entry.
Lopez informed authorities she was involved in a relationship with Gary Fisher, the owner of the targeted mobile home. Early that morning, Lopez reportedly attempted to enter Fisher’s home, but after he refused and returned to bed, she allegedly resorted to arson.
According to Fisher, he was awakened by a loud noise five minutes after encountering Lopez and discovered the fire outside. Lopez reportedly confided to a neighbor that she started the fire after Fisher refused to let her in to use the bathroom.
Eyewitnesses recounted to police seeing Lopez casually seated outside the burning home. During police questioning, Lopez confessed to using a lighter to start a plastic bag on fire, which she then placed between a car and Fisher’s residence. She admitted to starting the fire in a state of anger toward Fisher’s refusal to her and acknowledged he was inside at the time of the incident.
The fire sadly claimed the life of a man and three dogs. Lopez is currently held at Lew Sterrett Jail as the case proceeds.
