Man and little girl killed in hatchet attack at apartment complex

MONTEBELLO, CA – In a quiet Montebello neighborhood, a tragic event unfolded early this morning at an apartment complex on Low Hearst Avenue. Authorities have launched a murder investigation after two people—a man and a young boy—were found dead at the scene.

The Montebello Police Department is leading the investigation with multiple agencies present. Officers have been seen moving in and out of the building, diligently gathering evidence in hopes of piecing together what led to this horrific incident.

Residents in the area were startled awake by sirens and flashing lights around 3 a.m. Peering from their windows, they witnessed a chilling scene—a body lying motionless and bloodied in the driveway of the apartment complex.

New details have emerged, including video footage that seems to capture a hatchet lying near one of the victims at the back of the building. This discovery raises questions about whether the weapon was involved in the attack or if other means were used.

Neighbors, still in shock, expressed their disbelief. “Our street is usually quiet. It’s kind of scary,” one resident remarked, reflecting the community’s unease.

In addition to the fatalities, authorities have confirmed that two more individuals were injured: a woman and a young girl. Their conditions remain undisclosed as the investigation continues.

As detectives work to uncover more information, the presence of the hatchet remains a focal point. The police have yet to confirm its role in the attack, leaving many questions unanswered.

This incident has cast a somber shadow over the neighborhood, with residents grappling with fear and uncertainty. The Montebello Police urge anyone with information to come forward as they continue their investigation.
