Man fatally stabbed by his own brother after going out

ALBUQUERQUE, NM – An early morning argument following an evening out spiraled into a fatal altercation, resulting in a 26-year-old man allegedly stabbing his brother to death. The Albuquerque Police Department detailed the events that led to the charges against Tyvon Leno and the death of his 28-year-old brother, Ozal Leno.

The brothers, residents of the Acoma Pueblo, started to argue as they were being driven home around 2 a.m. after a night at downtown bars. Despite their mother’s attempts to quell the dispute, the argument escalated into a fight. Amid the chaos, Tyvon purportedly stabbed Ozal in the neck, according to the release.

The mother tried to control Ozal’s bleeding, even as Tyvon left the scene. A companion in the minivan drove everyone, including the injured Ozal, to an urgent care facility, where Ozal later died.

In the meantime, Tyvon attracted the attention of Albuquerque police downtown by claiming his brother was stabbed. He guided them to a blood-stained sidewalk at 6th Street and Copper Avenue. Initially alleging that an unidentified person attacked Ozal, Tyvon eventually admitted to his role in his brother’s stabbing.

Authorities responded by securing a warrant for Tyvon’s arrest, citing charges of murder and tampering with evidence. Subsequently, Tyvon was detained at the Metropolitan Detention Center.
