Man killed while FaceTiming girlfriend in Houston home

HOUSTON, TX – A man in Northeast Houston was fatally shot while on a FaceTime call with his girlfriend late on Thursday night, according to local authorities. Investigators from the Houston Police Department are now probing the man’s death and working to uncover a motive.

The tragic incident took place around 8:40 p.m. in a home located in the 3700 block of Hage Street. Paramedics from the Houston Fire Department were the first responders on the scene, where they found a 45-year-old man who had been shot twice in the chest. The victim was declared dead at the scene.

Upon their arrival, Houston police officers discovered that the house was empty. According to preliminary information, the man was engaged in a FaceTime call with his girlfriend when he conveyed to her that something was wrong. It is currently unclear whether one or multiple suspects entered the premises during the call and shot the victim.

“We don’t know if they kicked the door in or if they were welcomed in. There’s still a lot of questions,” remarked Lieutenant I. Izaguirre. The police later discovered that a bright blue Chevy Silverado pickup truck was seen leaving the scene immediately after the gunshots were reported.

Authorities have asked anyone with further information to contact the Houston Police Department’s Homicide Division, or anonymous tips can be provided to Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
