Man murders a father and daughter before leading police on a chase and shooting himself

GILCHRIST, TX – Tragedy struck late last night on the Bolivar Peninsula, leaving a father and his daughter dead in what authorities are calling a murder-suicide. Around 11:30 p.m., deputies were dispatched to a residence on Kirkpatrick Road in Gilchrist following reports of gunfire.

The victims have been identified as 45-year-old Eric Dopp from Houston and his 24-year-old daughter, Wisdom Hall, from Pearland. According to witnesses, a suspect fled the scene in a white car shortly after the shooting.

In a subsequent turn of events, deputies from Chambers County located a vehicle matching the description on the I-10 service road close to College Street in Beaumont. The driver refused to stop, leading officers on a high-speed chase.

The pursuit came to a tragic conclusion around 1 a.m. when the vehicle crashed on I-10 at Laurel Avenue. Beaumont police confirmed that the driver, identified as Jonathan Finley from Pasadena, died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
