CHARLOTTE, NC – A woman was brutally killed in a Charlotte gas station bathroom over the weekend, with police identifying a hammer as the murder weapon. The incident occurred late Saturday night at a QuikTrip in northeast Charlotte.
Glandina Latamba Dixon, a 47-year-old resident, was found dead at the crime scene by first responders. Police reports indicate a 911 call from the gas station’s bathroom revealed Dixon bleeding heavily from the back of her head, with blood pooled on the floor. Later determined to be caused by blunt-force trauma, she was pronounced dead by Medic at approximately 11:23 p.m.
Security footage from the gas station raised suspicions of foul play. The footage revealed a Black man exiting a black Ford pickup truck and tailing Dixon into the convenience store. After returning to the vehicle, the man is seen retrieving a seemingly hammer-like object before reentering the store and heading straight into the women’s restroom.
As detailed in the investigative documents, the suspect spent barely 40 seconds inside the restroom before fleeing the location. Police subsequently charged 53-year-old Sam Roary with first-degree murder in Dixon’s death, citing evidence that he had a relationship with the victim.
Roary is now held in the Mecklenburg County jail under a bail of $1 million.
