Man shot dead by police while he was fatally stabbing his mom

IRVINE, CA – A horrific stabbing incident in Irvine on Thursday prompted police to shoot a man who was violently assaulting his 72-year-old mother, resulting in their deaths at the scene. Police stated that the incident occurred near Green Tree and Coral Tree lanes around 3 p.m.

Responding to reports of a man attacking a woman, officers arrived at the scene to find a man wielding a knife against a woman outside a house. According to reports, the man advanced towards the officers with the deadly weapon despite their attempts to halt his actions. The officers followed protocol, ultimately resorting to using their firearms.

Irvine Police identified the knife-wielding suspect as 37-year-old Paul Parvea Montazer from Las Vegas. His victim was disclosed to be his 72-year-old mother, Parvin Montazer, a resident of Irvine. Both the suspect and victim were pronounced dead on the spot, and the knife used in the assault was recovered.

In a statement about the tragic event, Irvine Police Spokesperson Kyle Oldoerp expressed deep sorrow over the circumstances. He stated, “This is a tragic situation, and our hearts go out to all involved.”

This incident marks the second fatal police-involved shooting this week in Irvine, a city frequently recognized as one of the safest in the country for its size.
