Man shot dead during argument with wife about children’s bath routine

HOUSTON, TX – A man lost his life, and his estranged wife suffered a gunshot wound in the leg during a heated dispute about their children’s bath time. Authorities have identified Jerrell Butler, the woman’s 41-year-old brother, as a person of interest in the case. Experts in forensics are currently working to confirm the identity of the deceased man.

Houston Police Department’s Officer Ronnie Willkens stated that the wife was severing ties with her husband, who was in the midst of moving out. The husband had arrived at their Greenspoint apartment on Wednesday evening just before 9 p.m. to collect some of his belongings. Butler resided in the same apartment along with the couple’s three children.

As per Willkens, tempers flared when the husband expressed his frustration about their kids not having had their baths yet. This triggered a physical altercation between Butler and the husband, with the wife attempting to break up the fight. What followed next was both men pulling out guns and opening fire.

The man was shot multiple times and succumbed to his wounds. The woman was grazed in the leg, while Butler made his escape. The police force stated that it is unclear if Butler was wounded in the fracas, but officers are actively seeking him. Willkens further revealed the children, aged between 6 and 14 years, were present during the incident but were not physically harmed during the fight.

The Houston Police Department believes that Post-shooting, Butler might have departed with an unknown woman in a dark-colored vehicle.
