Man shot to death inside his home in targeted attack

ZION, IL – Early Friday morning, a man was fatally shot inside a home in Zion, a northern suburb of Illinois. According to local law enforcement, the Zion police responded to reports of gunshots at a residence on the 2900 block of Elizabeth Avenue around 2:40 a.m.

Upon their arrival, officers discovered a gunshot victim in the house. Both the officers and paramedics rushed to perform life-saving measures on the victim, who was shortly afterward taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Evidence gathered from the preliminary investigation suggests that the residence was likely the shooter’s intended target. The victim was hit by gunfire from outside his home. Given the nature of the incident, officers reached out to the Lake County Major Crime Task Force.

The Lake County Coroner’s Office is set to perform an autopsy on the victim. The investigation is being jointly conducted by investigators from the Major Crime Task Force and Zion police detectives.
