Police in Baton Rouge have apprehended two individuals for their alleged involvement in a nightclub shooting that left 12 individuals injured.

Nikeal Franklin, 19, was charged with 12 counts of attempted first-degree murder. Jy’Shaun Jackson, who is also 19, was charged with 12 counts of principal to attempted first-degree murder.

The incident occurred on January 22nd at the Dior Bar & Lounge and was reportedly not a random act of violence, but rather targeted at a specific partygoer.

Prior to the shooting, a themed party was taking place at the nightclub. Southern University and Louisiana State University were celebrating the kick-off of a new school semester.

However, spokespeople for both universities claim that the parties were not officially affiliated with either school.

The investigation remains ongoing, but authorities have not released further details.
