Mom faces charges for twin toddlers’ deaths

MIAMI, FL – Shirlene Alcime, the mother of twin toddlers discovered unresponsive in a van earlier this year, has been charged in their deaths, says the Miami-Dade Police. The young twins were discovered in a vehicle on the northbound I-95 ramp to the Turnpike Extension at the Golden Glades interchange in February.

The mother was rushed to HCA Florida Aventura Hospital, and she was in critical condition at the time. The children, identified as 3-year-old twins Milendhere Gabriel Napoleon Cadet and Milenjhit Gabriella Napoleon Cadet, by their father, Milson Cadet, tragically died.

Milson Cadet explained he had left for work at 5 a.m. and found no sign of his wife or children when he returned. Despite repeated calls to Alcime, he received no response.

The police, based on their report, received an unsettling call about an unresponsive child in a vehicle around 2 a.m. on the day. Soon after, a second call reported another unresponsive child. Detective Andre Martin of Miami-Dade police described how officers arrived at the scene to find a female, presumed to be the driver of the vehicle. The woman was discovered to have fallen over the railing onto the railroad tracks.

The children, transported to a hospital nearby, were pronounced deceased despite medical efforts.

The police were informed about the tragic incident not by the driver but by an individual passing by in another vehicle. Milson Cadet, while expressing disbelief at the turn of events, upheld his wife’s mental stability.
