Mother charged after young boy left locked in a room in his own feces

BAYTOWN, TX – A Baytown mother faces serious allegations after being charged with child abuse and drug possession. Authorities claim she subjected her 11-year-old son, who has autism, to harrowing living conditions.

The mother, Rachael Blaylock, is accused of confining her son in a room filled with his own waste. Court records indicate the boy was unable to speak or care for himself when police discovered him in May, weighing less than 50 pounds.

Blaylock is charged with a first-degree felony for injury to a child and a state jail felony for possessing a controlled substance. During a recent court appearance, prosecutors detailed the shocking allegations against her.

Investigators allege the boy was kept in a locked room at a mobile home in Baytown, separated from other family members. He was reportedly found on a mattress covered in feces, with dried waste on his body, including his ears and mouth.

Medical professionals diagnosed the boy with autism and noted signs of malnutrition and abuse. Child Protective Services took him into foster care as the investigation progressed.

When Blaylock was arrested, authorities say she carried a container she claimed held her partner’s ashes, which was later found to contain crystal meth. This led to the additional drug charge.

Blaylock remains in the Harris County Jail, where she has been held for several days. Attempts to reach her attorney for comment were unsuccessful.
