Murder-suicide at Chase bank drive-thru leaves 3 dead

MIAMI, FL – A horrific murder-suicide incident was reported at a Miami-Dade Chase Bank early on Friday morning, leaving a woman, child, and a man dead as confirmed by local law enforcement.

The occurrence was first reported by an on-duty sergeant from the Miami-Dade Police Department (MDPD) who was in the vicinity of 152nd Ave, close to Bird Road, around 7:37 a.m. on Friday. The distinctive sound of gunshots drew his attention to a grizzly scene unfolding in the Chase Bank’s premises where he discovered three deceased individuals– a man, woman, and child.

Details shared by Detective Luis Sierra from MDPD highlighted how the woman and child were awaiting their turn in a minivan in the bank’s drive-thru ATM lane when their lives were cut short by a sudden flurry of bullets. The gunman, who had parked in another drive-thru lane adjacent to the victims’ minivan, opened fire, killing both occupants before he shot himself.

Rosa Alba, an eyewitness who was visiting a restaurant in the same shopping complex at the time of the shooting, recounted her chilling experience. The news of the shooting, particularly involving a child, sparked widespread shock and sorrow among the local residents.

Adding to the locals’ despair was the fact that the murder-suicide incident followed closely on the heels of a similar case reported just a day prior in Coral Gables, where a 61-year-old man shot and killed a woman he was romantically involved with, hurt his 20-year-old son critically, and committed suicide.

Authorities are currently examining the relationship between the three victims and the sequence of events that unfolded on that fateful morning. The investigatory process necessitated a temporary closure of the intersection between Bird Road and SW 152nd Avenue.
