Authorities in Virginia report that a homeowner in Austinsville shot a woman in the leg after she allegedly broke into his house, attacking him with a frying pan.
Paula Michelle Locklear, 35, reportedly broke into the home while naked and began hitting the homeowner in the head with a cast iron fry pan. The victim was able to kick Locklear out of his home and lock the door.
Locklear then went to the homeowner’s back porch and turned off all the electrical breakers to the home, then began beating on the kitchen window.
After yelling at the victim to “get out of her house or she was going to kill him,” she began beating on the victim’s door. The resident shot the woman at this point.
Locklear was later located by Carroll County Sheriff’s Office deputies with a gunshot wound to the leg. An investigation determined that the shooting was the result of a breaking and entering.
The charges against Locklear include felony breaking and entering while armed, property damage, and assault. Until her arraignment in Carroll County General District Court, she remains in jail without bond.
Roger Brooks, the Carroll County Commonwealth Attorney, determined that the homeowner acted in self-defense.
