HOUSTON, TX – A deeply distressing case is under investigation in northwest Harris County after a newborn baby was discovered dead inside a trash bin. This discovery was made by waste collection workers who spotted the deceased newborn in the back of a trash compactor toward the rear of their truck while servicing a residential neighborhood on Fountain Crest Drive.
Sheriff Ed Gonzalez relayed the incident to the public, noting that prior investigations by Sgt. Sydney Miller suggested this was not a case of miscarriage. There was a strong police presence in the area as investigations ramped up.
Harris County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) investigators are set to sift through the piles of garbage in the hopes of unearthing crucial evidence that may help identify the person responsible for the baby’s death.
One resident, Cheryl Boen, expressed disbelief, remarking, “Oh, this is insane. This is crazy. I never thought anything like this would happen in my neighborhood.” Expectant parents Allen Hamilton and Germany Scott were both at home when the incident unfolded and reported a sense of something amiss when they witnessed the garbage collector behaving erratically.
GHSCO investigators posit that the baby was less than 30 days old. The incident has deeply affected other residents like Hamilton and Scott, who are expecting their own child. Details on circumstances surrounding the newborn’s death are still under investigation, and as of the moment, no arrests have been made.
