The victim, identified informally as Benjamin by colleagues, was a technician revered for his dedication. Though the loss was profoundly felt by those who knew him, authorities have not officially confirmed his identity or his reported heritage from Paraguay.
Witnesses, including Edward Hoch, a frequent visitor to the marina, described the incident as an unfortunate tragedy, expressing heartfelt condolences to the bereaved. “I feel for the family first and foremost,” Hoch remarked, lamenting the sudden loss of a man he respected.
Marina employees reported that the explosion happened as Benjamin was refueling the boat, a risky operation, particularly with regular gasoline. The potential for sparks or grounding issues presents inherent dangers during such processes, as noted by Hoch.
