HOLLYWOOD, FL – In a case that has gripped the local community, the Broward Sheriff’s Office has dismantled a sophisticated operation involving a Hollywood pawnshop accused of trafficking in stolen goods. The investigation, which spanned several years, culminated in the arrest of the pawnshop owner and eight others, accused of orchestrating a scheme that defrauded major retailers out of millions of dollars.
The operation reportedly involved stolen merchandise from well-known stores such as CVS, Walgreens, Home Depot, Publix, and Walmart. Thieves targeted these retailers, making off with a variety of items ranging from vitamins and over-the-counter medications to beauty products and power tools—all still in their original packaging.
Detectives uncovered a pattern linking these thefts to U.S. Pawn, a local shop that appeared to be the hub of the illicit trade. The pawnshop is accused of buying the stolen goods at a fraction of their value and selling them at a marked-up price, turning a hefty profit.
Undercover officers who infiltrated the store described scenes of overwhelming inventory, with items piled high on counters and even spilling out of trash bags and wagons. The sheer volume of goods forced the shop to close its doors to new customers at times, as they struggled to manage the influx.
A search warrant executed at the pawnshop and several other locations revealed the full extent of the operation. Authorities seized 53 pallets of suspected stolen merchandise, with an estimated value exceeding $750,000. This was the result of a meticulous investigation carried out over three years.
The nine individuals arrested are facing serious charges, including racketeering and dealing in stolen property. The suspects are currently being held at the Broward County Main Jail, awaiting legal proceedings.
