Police arrest three men suspected of ambush style shooting

JACKSONVILLE, FL – A shocking ambush at a Jacksonville apartment complex has left a man in critical condition and three suspects facing serious charges. The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of three individuals involved in the violent attack, which authorities say is linked to gang activities.

The incident unfolded in the Woodland Acres neighborhood, where 22-year-old Terrance Williams, 19-year-old Markeis Pelton, and 19-year-old Devon Rivers were apprehended in connection with the shooting. All three are now behind bars at the Duval County Jail, with bonds set at over a million dollars each.

According to law enforcement, the attack was a targeted assault. The suspects allegedly ambushed the victim, a 22-year-old man, as he was walking toward a vehicle at the complex on Acme Street. Emerging from a black Jeep Wrangler, the trio opened fire, their faces obscured by hoodies.

Investigators revealed that the suspects fired numerous rounds, evidenced by the shell casings found at the scene. Two of the firearms reportedly had extended magazines, suggesting a high volume of gunfire. After the assault, the suspects fled in the Jeep, which was later discovered to have a stolen North Carolina license plate.

A license plate reader helped police track the vehicle to Pearl Street. When officers attempted to stop the Jeep on West 40th Street, the suspects abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot. However, their escape was short-lived. Officers soon encountered them during a response to a burglary on Springfield Boulevard, leading to their capture on West 44th Street.

The arrested men face charges of attempted murder, and if convicted, they could be sentenced to life in prison. The investigation continues as authorities work to unravel the broader implications of this gang-related violence.
