ANAHEIM, CA – A dramatic police chase unfolded in Anaheim, culminating in gunfire and the eventual death of the suspect. The pursuit began after reports emerged of a shooting at the Kona Motel on Brooker Street, where a victim had been shot in the stomach. As officers arrived on the scene, they spotted a white pickup truck fleeing the area, initiating a high-speed chase through the city streets.
As the chase progressed, police attempted several precision intervention techniques, commonly known as pit maneuvers, to stop the suspect. Despite these efforts, the driver managed to evade initial attempts, weaving through busy intersections and narrowly avoiding collisions with other vehicles. The pursuit continued southbound on State College Boulevard, with both California Highway Patrol and Anaheim police units working closely to bring the chase to a halt.
The tension escalated when the fleeing truck was rammed by a police SUV, pushing it toward the curb. However, the driver continued to evade capture, maneuvering through traffic with reckless abandon. The chase reached a critical point on a deserted stretch of road, where police executed another pit maneuver. This time, the white pickup spun out of control, crashing into a wall and then the center divider.
Moments after the crash, officers opened fire on the vehicle, shattering the front windshield and riddling the driver’s side door with bullet holes. The passenger side door opened, and a person emerged with hands raised, walking backward toward the officers. The passenger was quickly apprehended and handcuffed without further incident.
The driver, however, was not as fortunate. Officers approached the vehicle and pulled the driver out, attempting CPR at the scene. Despite their efforts, the driver succumbed to their injuries and was pronounced dead.
Newly released footage from the scene reveals the aftermath of the violent confrontation, highlighting the bullet-riddled truck and the intense police response. The incident is now under investigation as authorities work to piece together the events that led to the fatal outcome.
