Police hunting suspects in shootout

ROWLETT, TX – A brazen daylight shootout erupted late last month in a bustling strip mall parking lot along the 8800 block of Lakeview Parkway, prompting the local police chief to intensify efforts to apprehend the culprits.

The incident unfolded around 6 p.m. when a maroon Dodge Charger drove into the lot of a grocery store, targeting an employee collecting carts. The vehicle’s driver and two passengers opened fire on the employee, who retaliated with his own weapon.

As the gunfire erupted, shoppers scrambled for cover, ducking and diving to avoid the bullets. Despite the chaos, no injuries were reported, though several parked cars sustained damage.

Detective Eric Xing, the lead investigator on the case, is spearheading the search for the suspects who fled the scene in the Charger. The vehicle is believed to have ties to the Oak Cliff area of Dallas, but it has not been spotted since the incident.

Authorities are urging residents of Oak Cliff to be vigilant for the maroon Dodge Charger and its masked occupants. The police believe the attack was targeted and fear the suspects could strike again.

The intended victim claims not to recognize the assailants, but Detective Xing suspects otherwise and believes there are individuals who know the identities of those involved.

Detective Xing is appealing to the public for assistance, offering his contact information for anyone with information. He can be reached via phone or email, emphasizing the importance of community involvement in solving the case.

As the investigation continues, the Rowlett police are committed to ensuring the safety of their community and bringing the perpetrators to justice.
