Police Release Video of Officer-Involved Shooting During Stabbing Incident

The Phoenix Police Department recently released a Critical Incident Briefing (CIB) video containing audio, visuals, and information pertaining to an officer-involved shooting that took place on March 6, 2023. The incident occurred at a residence near 4100 W. Alta Vista Rd. after Phoenix Police received several calls about stabbings in progress.

Upon arriving at the scene, the first two officers observed an injured elderly woman on the ground outside the house. As they approached the doorway, they spotted the suspect wielding two knives and kneeling behind another woman, who was visibly injured.

Despite being given multiple commands by the police, the suspect refused to comply and continued to assault the second woman. In response, one of the officers fired his rifle, striking the suspect.

One of the officers moved the injured elderly woman away from the house after the shooting ceased. The officer then returned to remove the second injured woman from inside the home.

The first rescued woman was transported to a hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injureis. Unfortunately, the other woman succumbed to her injuries at the hospital.

As more officers arrived, they entered the house and located the suspect. Authorities recovered the two knives he had been holding. A thorough search of the house revealed that no additional victims were present.

The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene. Police also collected several other knives from the home as evidence.
