Restaurant owner killed in deadly shooting

MEMPHIS, TN – The Whitehaven community in Memphis is grappling with grief and questions following the tragic shooting that claimed the life of Alfonzo Turner, a beloved restaurateur. The incident unfolded at Tha Table on Elvis Presley Boulevard, shattering the sense of security in the area.

Turner, the owner of the Whitehaven restaurant, was one of the victims of the shooting that occurred in the restaurant’s parking lot around 3:30 p.m. on Sunday. Another person was found injured from the shooting, but the restaurant owner ultimately did not survive his injuries.

Turner was described as a man who loved his family and community, leaving behind a positive legacy. His brother, William Turner, expressed the family’s heartbreak, emphasizing Alfonzo’s love for people and the deep connections he had forged. Despite the tragedy, they are grateful that the incident is receiving attention.

City Councilwoman Patrice Robinson, concerned about the rising crime problem, met with church pastors in the Whitehaven community to seek solutions. The community is mourning the loss, and Robinson stressed the importance of investing time with the youth in the area, acknowledging that efforts should have started sooner. As the family and friends of Alfonzo Turner continue to mourn, their focus shifts to supporting his fiancée and young child left behind.
