Shooting spree leaves five dead, three critically injured

FLORENCE, KY – Tragedy struck in northern Kentucky when a shooting spree resulted in five deaths, including the suspect’s, and left three people critically injured. Law enforcement officers rushed to a residence on Ridgecrest Drive in Florence early Saturday morning, responding to multiple reports of an active shooter situation around 2:51 a.m.

Upon their arrival, Florence police found seven individuals suffering gunshot injuries. Immediate medical assistance could not prevent the deaths of four victims at the scene, while emergency medical teams rushed the remaining three to the UC Hospital. The injured survivors are in critical but stable condition.

However, the suspect had managed to flee the crime scene in a vehicle before officers could apprehend him. A swift and stringent response led the police to the suspect near Farmview Drive and US 42, igniting a vehicle pursuit. The chase ended abruptly when the suspect’s vehicle veered off Dale Heimbrock Way, ending up in a ditch.

Police discovered that the suspect, identified as 20-year-old Chase Garvey, had sustained a self-inflicted gunshot injury. Medical personnel at the St. Elizabeth Hospital later pronounced Garvey dead.

Florence Police reassured the public, stating that the incident was an isolated act with no ongoing threat. Police are urging anyone with useful information about this event to contact them.
