EL MIRAGE, CA – Law enforcement officials launched an investigation following the horrific discovery of six deceased individuals in a remote sector of the Mojave Desert in San Bernardino County. The distressing incident occurred late on Tuesday evening.
Authorities responded to a welfare check near Highway 395, within the vicinity of El Mirage, which is located to the north of Adelanto. The dispatch was logged at approximately 8:15 p.m., as reported by the San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department.
Upon arrival at the scene, close to Lessing Avenue and Shadow Mountain Road, first responders made the grim discovery of six deceased individuals. Officials disclosed that a sixth victim was discovered on Wednesday morning, northwest of Adelanto.
The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department’s Specialized Investigations Division was subsequently mobilized to assist with the unfolding investigation.
Details regarding the cause of death for the victims were not readily available. However, overhead footage of the scene revealed a vehicle riddled with bullet holes, demarcated with an array of evidence markers.
Currently, no suspect has been identified in relation to the gruesome discovery.
San Bernardino Sheriff’s spokesperson Officer Mara Rodriguez articulately conveyed the harrowing weight of the situation. “Our investigators will continue to do their best to wrap this up quickly and get all the information possible to bring justice to those folks out there,” said Rodriguez.
