Student dies after being hit by a car while walking on grass

DALLAS, TX – A roadside dispute unexpectedly turned tragic on Friday morning in Dallas, Texas, claiming the life of a 14-year-old middle school student. Identified as Jonathan Ayala, the student from Boude Storey Middle School suffered fatal injuries after a car struck him.

The Dallas Police Department reported that Jonathan was hit by a car that had swerved off the road around 7:55 a.m. at S. Marsalis Avenue and E. Ledbetter Drive. The investigations revealed that the driver and the passenger, 47-year-old James Grant, had been embroiled in a physical struggle while the vehicle was traversing Marsalis Avenue.

The dispute continued and caused the vehicle to veer off when Grant leaned in across the driver while heading east on Ledbetter, unfortunately hitting Jonathan in the process.

Post-collision, Grant fled from the scene after alleged theft from the driver, who stayed back to notify 911. After a search, Dallas PD officers located and apprehended Grant, who is now facing charges of violating parole and murder. He is being held at Dallas County North Tower Jail with a bond set at $750,000.

Dallas Police commented that Grant was involved in a “felony offense which caused the death of the teen.” Investigations into the horrifying incident are continuing.
