BEERSHEBA, ISRAEL – In a devastating event at a central bus station, a policewoman was killed, and ten others were injured in a suspected terror attack in Beersheba. Local authorities have identified the fallen officer as Sergeant Shira Chaya Suslik, serving with Israel’s border police.
The violent act left several people wounded, some with gunshot injuries, as confirmed by the National Ambulance Service. Among the wounded, one individual remains in a critical state, and four others are moderately injured. Medical teams evacuated all casualties to a nearby hospital.
Security personnel on-site responded rapidly, eliminating the gunman within moments, a preliminary police report stated.
The tragedy has drawn sharp responses from leaders. Miri Regev, Israel’s Transport Minister, called for the deportation of terrorist families as a preventative measure against future attacks.
Meanwhile, opposition leader Yair Lapid condemned the assault as heinous, emphasizing the need for decisive action against terror activities.
This attack is the latest in a series of violent incidents amid heightened security alerts across Israel, especially with the ominous approach of the anniversary of Hamas’s incursion into southern Israel last October.
