SAN ANTONIO, TX – A teenager wanted for the fatal shooting of a Sonic restaurant manager in San Antonio has been arrested following an extensive search involving multiple law enforcement agencies. Adiah Roberson, 17, was apprehended in a Dallas parking lot, months after being placed on Texas’ 10 Most Wanted list.
Roberson faces charges for the alleged murder of Daniel Shrewsbury, who was killed during his night shift on July 7. The deadly encounter unfolded when Roberson and two accomplices tried to pay for their meal using counterfeit money, sparking a dispute.
As the trio left the scene, Shrewsbury attempted to photograph their vehicle’s license plate. At this point, another suspect, Joshua Joseph, 27, reportedly threatened that the Sonic manager would be shot, according to police reports. Roberson then allegedly emerged from the vehicle and fired the fatal shots before the group fled.
Witnesses described the chaotic scene, with one recalling hearing three gunshots and observing an employee rush out, exclaiming about a co-worker being shot. Shrewsbury, days shy of his 34th birthday, was pronounced dead at the location.
The victim’s family remembers him as a loving brother and cherished family member. His younger brother, Jojo Shrewsbury, expressed deep sorrow, noting Daniel’s kindness and devotion to his family. Meanwhile, his sister, Jazmin Robinson, mourned the sudden loss in a heartfelt social media post.
Roberson, also sought for forgery of a government document, was located through a tip to U.S. Marshals, which led to her arrest in Dallas. Charged with murder and forgery, she remains in custody on a $520,000 bond pending transfer to San Antonio. Authorities continue to determine whether she will be tried as an adult, which could lead to a life sentence if convicted of capital murder.
Joshua Joseph, apprehended earlier, already faces murder charges in connection with the case. Roberson’s arrest marks a significant development in the tragic incident that has deeply impacted the Sonic community and Shrewsbury’s loved ones.
