SOUTHWEST MIAMI-DADE, FL – Authorities have disclosed new information following a gruesome murder-suicide in Southwest Miami-Dade over the weekend. According to official sources from the Miami-Dade police, 40-year-old Luis Napoles got to his girlfriend’s condominium complex late Saturday evening and fatally shot her near her unit. The victim has been named as 25-year-old Meghan Moore by police on Monday.
Officers were dispatched to the scene at Windsor Ludlum Trail Apartments, located off Bird Road and close to Southwest 70th Avenue, just short of 9 p.m. They encountered Moore’s lifeless body, which was declared dead at the scene.
Unexpectedly, police officers heard another gunshot, this time emitting from inside the apartment. The Miami-Dade Police Department’s Special Response Team was on the scene promptly and burst into the apartment. Inside, they found Napoles and another individual, Sidney Capolino, Moore’s 23-year-old housemate, dead.
Investigators have reason to believe Napoles murdered Capolino before turning the gun on himself. Discussing the incident, Miami-Dade Police Detective Andre Martin recalled the swift measures taken by the authorities to prevent further casualties. Noting the serious nature of the situation, the Special Response Team evacuated all occupants of the condominium for their safety.
Although it was initially assumed that Napoles cohabited with the women, a police press release issued Monday specified a separate residential address for him.
The investigation continues and the actual reason behind the brutal murder-suicide is yet to be clarified.
