Three people shot at nightclub

MEMPHIS, TN – A late-night shooting at Lucille’s Blues and Diner in Westwood has left multiple people recovering from injuries. Memphis police responded to the incident, which took place just before 4 a.m. on Thursday, marking the latest in a series of violent episodes at the popular nightclub.

Stacy Richards, the club owner, expressed her determination to keep the family-run establishment open despite the recent tragedy. “It’s mind-blowing because people just want to enjoy themselves,” she said, emphasizing her commitment to ensuring the safety of patrons in the future.

Officers arriving at the scene discovered a parking lot littered with evidence markers, signaling the extent of the chaos that unfolded. Two individuals were hospitalized with gunshot wounds, while a third person was taken in due to a medical issue. Richards explained that the trouble began with a fight inside the club, which security quickly addressed by escorting those involved to their vehicles.

This incident is not the first time police have been called to the location. In December, a separate shooting occurred involving two security guards who were later arrested for unrelated offenses, including firearm violations. Richards stated that the guards had been hired through a security company, and she was unaware of their past.

In the aftermath of the recent violence, Richards is taking steps to prevent future occurrences. She is considering raising the age limit for entry, noting that older patrons might be less likely to engage in disruptive behavior. “Maybe 35 and older,” she mused, suggesting that those with more to lose might act more responsibly.

Currently, no arrests have been made in connection with the shooting, but police are on the lookout for a black Chevy Suburban that may have played a role in the incident. In a related crime alert, authorities released images of a dark-colored Chevy Camaro linked to another shooting in Orange Mound. Witnesses reported seeing the suspect fire shots from the vehicle before fleeing the scene.

The Camaro was later found abandoned at a nearby apartment complex, but police have not yet identified any suspects. As investigations continue, both the club and the community are grappling with the impact of the violence and seeking ways to move forward safely.
