Three teens shot while walking to concert

CHICAGO, IL – Three individuals, including a 15-year-old boy, were injured during a shooting incident near the United Center Sunday evening, authorities reported. The chaotic scene unfolded just before 7 p.m. at the intersection of North Wolcott and West Maypole avenues on the city’s Near West Side.

According to the Chicago Police Department, trouble began when a group of individuals on bicycles attempted to mug an 18-year-old and his friends heading to a Lil Durk concert. A struggle ensued, resulting in gunfire that critically injured two victims.

Thomas Kendall, whose brother was among the critically injured, said the 18-year-old was shot in the chest during the altercation. He remains in critical condition, along with a 19-year-old man who sustained a gunshot wound to the ribs. A 15-year-old boy, who was also caught in the melee, suffered a hand injury and an abdominal graze but is in good condition.

All victims are being treated at Stroger Hospital, where surgeries are underway, family members have confirmed.

Despite the injuries and chaos, police have yet to apprehend any suspects. The lack of arrests has intensified community concerns over safety and gun violence in the area.

Local residents expressed anxiety about increasing violence, emphasizing the importance of vigilance and neighborhood action to thwart such attacks.
