ATLANTA, GA – A Delta Air Lines jet got into a predicament when it collided with a smaller aircraft on the taxiway of the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. The crash took place on Tuesday morning, and the contact between the two planes caused substantial damage to the tail of the smaller plane.
Delta Flight 295, en route to Tokyo, was preparing for takeoff when the incident occurred around 10 a.m. The wingtip of the jet crashed into the tail of Endeavor Air Flight 5526. The Endeavor flight, heading for Louisiana, had been waiting on an adjoining taxiway when the mishap took place.
Delta Air Lines expressed regret over the unfortunate incident, corroborated by the Federal Aviation Administration, involving their wholly-owned regional airline, Minneapolis-based Endeavor Air.
Both flights had all passengers evacuated and safely returned to the terminal following the collision. Luckily, no one was injured when the crash occurred Delta has promised to arrange alternate flights for all 221 passengers aboard their Tokyo-bound jet, and the 56 passengers scheduled for the Endeavor flight to Louisiana.
Delta is actively cooperating with the National Transportation Safety Board and other regulatory bodies during the ongoing investigation surrounding this incident.
