Two killed in Chick-fil-A shooting

IRVING, TX – In a fatal incident at a local Chick-fil-A, two people were shot to death in what police describe as a targeted incident. The shooting occurred inside the restaurant located at 5300 N. MacArthur Blvd in the Las Colinas area around 4 p.m. on Wednesday, according to Irving Police Department spokesperson Officer Anthony Alexander.

Upon arrival, law enforcement discovered two victims with gunshot wounds. Emergency medical teams pronounced both individuals dead at the scene. Their identities have yet to be disclosed.

Following an investigation, authorities identified 37-year-old Oved Bernardo Mendoza Argueta as the alleged perpetrator. Mendoza Argueta reportedly fled the scene of the crime before police arrived but was later apprehended and booked into the Irving City Jail shortly after 3 a.m. Thursday. The suspect now faces charges of capital murder of multiple persons.

The police reassured the public that this shooting was an isolated incident, emphasizing that there was no continuing threat. Surveillance footage has been secured to assist with the ongoing investigation.

The scene outside the Chick-fil-A saw a significant police presence, with the Texas Sky Ranger capturing images of police vehicles surrounding the establishment. Additionally, a crowd, including what appeared to be Chick-fil-A employees, gathered in the parking lot.

Authorities have urged the public to avoid the area as the investigation continues. They also warned that if anyone encounters Mendoza Argueta, they should not approach him but rather call 911 immediately.
