HOUSTON, TX – A fatal shooting occurred at Bauer Pocket Park in the Spring Branch area of Houston, resulting in two deaths on Thursday afternoon. The Houston Police Department confirmed the incident had taken place around 1:10 p.m., near Hammerly Boulevard and Blalock Road.
The victims of the deadly shooting, a juvenile and an adult male, were found at the park. Another minor, found a few blocks away from the park, was taken into police custody for questioning. Assistant Chief Alvaro Guzman stated that the individual was a witness who would provide information about the unfortunate happening.
Eyewitness accounts reported hearing multiple gunshots. One witness, Tuan Ho, described a chilling sight: a young person in a hoodie and backpack, visibly carrying a gun. Another witness, Chris Robinson, recounted seeing the alleged shooter interact with one of the victims, seemingly to confirm death.
The lack of panic or noticeable distress among the shooters was disturbing for witnesses who noticed them walking casually, unconcerned with the gravity of their actions and without any effort to escape the scene hastily.
The causal factors of the incident remain unclear. Authorities have not yet disclosed the victims’ identities.
Relevant local bodies were informed of the incident. This included the Spring Branch Independent School District, as their facilities lie in the vicinity of the park. Guzman expressed his dismay at such violence occurring in a place designed for family-oriented recreational activities.
