Two-year-old girl leads police to scene of attempted murder-suicide of her parents

HOUSTON, TX – On Monday night, Houston Police Department (HPD) officers, responding to a call, made a gruesome discovery at a Greater Third Ward home. A 2-year-old girl who exited the house at 4210 Ennis Street in Houston told the responding officers that her mother required assistance because “she fell.”

Upon entering the home, the officers found a 44-year-old man dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. They also found the little girl’s mother, a 42-year-old woman who had been shot. First responders transported the woman to the hospital, and she was reportedly in critical condition.

Authorities believe that the man shot the woman before he ultimately turned the gun back on himself. The 2-year-old girl was unharmed and was taken into care by family members who were called to the scene.

According to the authorities, just before the incident, the woman was on the phone with her relatives and they could hear her arguing with the man. Suddenly, multiple gunshots were heard over the call.

Another witness gave an account confirming the events that took place, saying that they had heard arguing and then gunshots. They also mentioned that the couple involved in the incident had recently moved into the townhome.
