Vehicle crash causes fatal building collapse in Baltimore

A fatal crash in Baltimore, Maryland, left one person dead and five others injured on Wednesday night. According to Baltimore Police, the crash was the result of a suspected stolen vehicle that fled from officers and collided with another car.

The car wreck caused the building to collapse.

The crash occurred near the intersection of North Avenue and North Wolfe Street at 9 PM local time. A 54-year-old man was rescued from the rubble and pronounced dead on the scene.

Five other individuals, who were occupants of the two cars involved, were transported to local hospitals. Their conditions are currently unknown.

Firefighters and medics quickly arrived at the scene to assist and work on stabilizing the building as well as digging through the rubble to search for survivors. Police are investigating the crash with their Special Investigations Response Team and Crash Team.

The police official stated that they will review all body-worn cameras and any other video footage to determine what led to the crash. Traffic in the area was shut down for several hours.

Police are now reviewing body-cam footage and other forms of surveillance to find out what caused the deadly incident.
