Volleyball coach arrested after student says he molested her

MIAMI, FL – A cloud of concern hangs over Miami-Dade County as a volleyball coach faces serious allegations of misconduct that have left parents and authorities on high alert. Carlos Cruz Concepcion, a former coach at Bridge Prep Academy, has been arrested following accusations of inappropriate behavior with a teenage girl.

The allegations, dating back to 2023, suggest that Cruz Concepcion engaged in inappropriate conduct with a 16-year-old student, allegedly touching her over her clothes on several occasions. The situation took a further troubling turn when it was reported that he took indecent photographs of her during a practice session.

This case has unearthed a previous incident where Cruz Concepcion was dismissed from his coaching role for sending unsuitable messages to minors. These revelations have sparked widespread concern among parents, many of whom are demanding transparency and accountability from educational institutions.

A visibly distressed parent remarked, “It’s extremely worrying. We need answers to ensure our children are protected.” The community’s anxiety is palpable as they seek reassurance in the wake of these allegations.

Cruz Concepcion, in his defense, has allegedly claimed that any contact was accidental and not deliberate. His father, speaking at a court appearance, insisted that the alleged incident occurred when his son was performing maintenance work at the school during the summer break.

Further complicating matters, Cruz Concepcion had also worked at Divine Savior Academy and 305 Volleyball, but has since been dismissed from these positions. Despite having cleared several background checks, the case raises critical questions about the thoroughness of such screenings.

Authorities are urging anyone with information or who may have been impacted by Cruz Concepcion’s actions to come forward and contact Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS. The investigation continues as police work to determine the full scope of the situation.

As the community awaits further information, there is a collective hope for justice and a resolution that will restore trust in those charged with the care and mentorship of young people.
