Waffle House employee shot to death by customer

LAURINBURG, NC – Waffle House staff in Laurinburg, North Carolina, faced a terrifying incident, resulting in the death of their 18-year-old coworker, Burlie Dawson Locklear. Laurinburg Police were alerted about gunshots at the popular restaurant shortly after midnight on Friday.

Responding to the call, police discovered Burlie Dawson Locklear with a gunshot wound. He was rushed to Scotland Memorial Hospital but didn’t survive.

Investigations into the incident uncovered unexpected details, according to the police report. The suspect had walked into Waffle House and ordered food, which led to a heated exchange between him and the employees. With his food served, the alleged killer left the premises but fired two shots at the Waffle House from outside, tragically hitting Locklear. The suspect then quickly fled from the scene.

Preliminary descriptions portray the suspect as a black male with light skin, long dreadlocks, and facial hair, including a beard and mustache. He was believed to be wearing a dark blue hoodie, blue jeans, and white shoes during the incident. Police believe he made his escape in a dark gray vehicle, possibly a 2014-model Chevrolet.
