SAN RAFAEL, CA – Tragedy struck in the Terra Linda community when a 55-year-old mother was found fatally stabbed on her apartment balcony on Monday, per local authorities. Subsequently, her 28-year-old daughter, Tonantzyn Oris Beltran, was arrested on suspicion of her murder.
Police arrived on the scene around 5 p.m., discovering Beltran standing next to the victim with a knife in her hand, her clothes allegedly soaked in blood.
According to law enforcement, Beltran didn’t immediately comply with the officers’ directives. They stated, “While officers were confronting Beltran from the balcony, another team of officers forced entry through the front door of the apartment and immediately took Beltran into custody.”

Family members had noticed a change in Beltran’s behavior in the days leading up to the alleged murder. They cited disturbing video content she shared on TikTok, featuring an emotional exchange with her mother.
While the Marin County Sheriff’s Office is yet to formally disclose the identity of the victim, KTVU has identified her as Olivia Beltran. She was reportedly a valued community activist, offering services as a translator and advocating for immigration rights.
Echeverria further highlighted how Olivia was remembered for her maternal love and tireless advocacy, stating, “She loved her kids and she was always fighting for them. Olivia wanted to make the world a better place for everyone.”
